Home is Where the Heart Is

I love to travel! God has blessed me with many amazing opportunities to see different parts of the world. People might live in houses very different from those we are used to in the United States, but they all have something in common. It does not matter if it is an elevated, wooden longhouse along a rushing river in the Amazon Rainforest or a red, baked mud hut with a thatched roof in Uganda.

Home is where you go after a long day of work. It is where you eat and sleep. Home is where our proverbial hearts are.

Does everyone have a fond recollection of home? No. Not everyone has been nurtured. Sadly people are abused in various ways. I know this and don’t wear rose-colored glasses. However, the desire to make a house a home drives me. To create a safe place for families to grow. To make affordable housing available. To bless those with more than a roof over their heads. All of these things are the goal of Bella Haven Properties.

So what kind of home do you want to create? I would argue that it really is not about how many bedrooms or how many bathrooms it has. It is not all about the upgraded kitchen appliances or the amount of square footage. Instead, it is about the feeling we get when we are there. Is it a place where you feel welcome? Can you share your hopes and dreams, worries and concerns? Does the conversation around the dining room table warm your soul as much as the hot bowl of nutritious soup?

Answering these questions in the affirmative affirms that you are creating a soul-full home. You have taken the four walls and roof and expanded them with your love. You are feeding people with sustenance and substance. You are literally changing the world! Even if it doesn’t feel super impactful, you are changing people’s lives. Now they can boldly declare for all to hear, “Home IS where the heart is!” And that, my friends, is the magic of a loving, nurturing home.
